disabled customers, we constantly strive to make their shopping
experience with us a happy, effortless and enjoyable one.

Accessible Facilities in the Centre
Toilet Facilities
There are five main toilet blocks within the Centre; each block has dedicated accessible units which specifically cater for the needs of disabled people and are immediately accessible from each toilet area lobby.
Please note entrance to each toilet unit is via RADAR lock. Keys are available from service staff within the toilet areas or from the Customer Services Desks within the malls.
Assisted Change Facilities
The Lower Orient toilet area is equipped with an assisted change facility, including an electric hoist, and an adjustable table and Closamat toilet. The key for this facility can be obtained from the Customer Service Desk in the Main Dome, and from environmental services staff located in the toilet areas.
Transport Facilities
All bus services to intu Trafford Centre are operated using low floor easy access buses, plus our on-site taxi service, provided by Abacus Travel Services, offers wheelchair friendly vehicles operating from the taxi rank in front of The Great Hall.
Sensory Aids
- Reading lenses available.
- Toilet blocks with tactile signage.
- Customer Services desks are equipped with hearing loops
- The Presentation Theatre in the Management Suite is also equipped with a hearing loop.
- Textphones now available at the Customer Services Desk in the Main Dome.
- RADAR keys available at all Customer Service Desks and UKS Mobility.
- Specific Needs Assistant available to assist with your shopping etc. PLEASE NOTE: This service requires 7 days notice and must be pre-booked by calling 0161 749 1667.
Car Parking
260 designated parking spaces set on 14 car parks around the Centre. Most are sites within easy reach of the main entrances.
There is a dedicated “Shopmobility” parking area near to the “Shopmobility” unit based in the Centre.
Centre Security personnel patrol the car parks and will deal with any parking abuse of the spaces set aside for customers with disabilities.
Lifts, Ramps, Lowered Kerbs
The Centre is ideal for those using mobility aids, (wheelchairs and scooters etc). There are ramps to all public entrances and drop kerbs for step free access from car parks at all locations. This includes raised “Zebra” crossings for safe access from public car parks to entrances and walkways.
Speaking lifts
There are nine located around the Malls to facilitate easy access to all levels.
Shopmobility
The Shopmobility service is provided by UKS Mobility and is affiliated to the National Federation of Shopmobility Schemes. The service provides wheelchairs, electric scooters, electric wheelchairs and RADAR keys during Centre retail opening hours.
However, all equipment has to be pre-booked, and this can be done by telephoning 0161 747 2684.
Please note, two forms of identification are required for all equipment hire and you are required to produce a form of identification with the users name and address.
There is a charge for this service, customers can pay £30 a year subscription, which gives unlimited equipment useage, or customers will be charged £3 per hour for electrical wheelchairs, and £2 per hour for manual wheelchairs, for adhoc visits.
All equipment is brand new and full training is given before use.
We have a team of Arriva Customer Service Supervisors on hand at all times to assist customers on our Bus Station. Customers who arrive at the bus station and require access to the Shopmobility unit are able to travel for free on our Metrolink Shuttle Bus which stops right outside Lower Peel entrance, adjacent to Shopmobility.
Accessible environment
intu Trafford Centre has wide walkways and malls, which are well lit. They are clean and tidy, and generally un-obstructed by obstacles and barriers.
There are staff available to offer assistance and guidance. All have been trained in disability awareness which includes issues relating to people with:
- Hearing impairments
- Visual impairments
- Mobility impairments
- Learning difficulties
Training also embraces:
- Equal opportunities (induction and supervisory level, these courses touch on all aspects of equal opportunities)
- Awareness of requirements of DDA.
